CONQUERING THE HEIGHTS
Dear God, give me mountains
with hills at their knees,
Ones much too tall,
For the flutter of trees.
Mountains that know
The pale shadow of death,
that have kissed a bright star
And felt it's first breath.
Bring on the biggest
And tallest you store,
One's that have never
Been conquered before.
One's where the peaks
Touch the top of the sky,
And part only for clouds
As they slowly pass by.
Challenges that cherish
Life's golden-rimmed cup.
Yes God, give me mountains
And the strength to climb up.
