There was a time I did it all.
I stooped so low. I stood so tall.
I worked like ten. I played the best.
I knew the rules. I passed the test.

I cast the roles. I played the star.
I wrote the scripts. I drove my car.
I did the things, that made me, ME.
There was nothing left I couldn't be.

Things were always what they seemed.
Life was always as I dreamed.
What happened first, I can't recall,
But in one skid, I lost it all.

Now I need help to stay on track
And need more help to get it back.
I remember when this wasn't true.
I used to go. I loved to do.

Now I wait for things to change.
This needing help is all too strange.
I want to leave, yet I can't go.
I want it fast, yet it comes slow.

I see it slow, but dream it fast.
I always know that it won't last.
I live the past from day to day.
I don't know where mine went away.

I'm not that one, I used to be.
Just be assured, this is not me!
I don't know when. I don't care how.
I had it then. I want it now.
