THE SURVIVORS VOICE
I've been given a choice
That we all should make
And traveled a journey
That no one should take.
My brain has been injured
Through no fault of mine.
I've done too much searching
For reasons to find
Why it was me?
But that doesn't matter.
I've not spoken out
And that's even sadder.
I thought what was happening
Was to be hidden, you see.
I never knew millions
Were struggling like me.
Now I know who I am
And demand recognition.
I'm a capable person
And invite competition.
I'll work through the days
And long into the nights
To declare and retrieve
My God-given rights.
It's true. I may never be
Who I was before.
But I promise you this.
I'll be silent no more.
